Now both ‪#‎nRF51‬ & ‪#‎nRF52‬ Support IPv6 Over Bluetooth Smart.‪#‎nRF5SDK‬

Quoted from Nordic: http://www.nordicsemi.com/eng/Products/Bluetooth-Smart-Bluetooth-low-energy/nRF5-SDK-for-IoT

This SDK is a IPv6 capable Bluetooth® Smart software stack that provides drivers, libraries, examples, and APIs for nRF52 Series devices. It includes an IPv6 over Bluetooth Smart adaptation layer (6LoWPAN) and a complete Internet Protocol Suite including IPv6, ICMP, UDP, TCP, DTLS, TLS, CoAP and MQTT. It brings native IPv6 support to Bluetooth Smart applications, letting them talk directly to cloud services and other connected ‘things’ over IP-based networks.
The SDK includes examples that configure the nRF52 device as a Bluetooth Smart 6LoWPAN node and that interface with the IP layers at transport level (UDP amd TCP) and with security (DTLS and TLS), to the application level CoAP and MQTT and LWM2M. Examples of how to connect to cloud services is also included in the documentation. The SDK also includes an implementation to for over the air upgrade for Bluetooth Smart IPv6 nodes over IP using the trivial file transport protocol (TFTP).
As a router for development an off-the-shelf router running OpenWRT or a Raspberry Pi can be used. A solution for commissioning of Bluetooth Smart IPv6 nodes to a router with a mobile phone as a trusted third party is also included. Source code for the commissioning app and the needed OpenWRT daemon is also available. All this is described in the documentation.

The nRF5 IoT SDK documentation are available at our infocenter.

The nRF5 IoT SDK zip and pack version are available for download developer.nordicsemi.com.

Why Use Raytac BLE module??

Model: MDBT40 / MDBT40-P/MDBT40ANT/MDBT42

The main reasons can be referred to 4 powerful aspects

"Size, Performance, Safety, Cost"

1. Size:
The smallest module in the main market.
East to fit in any device without space problem.

2. Performance: (Long Working Distance or Double Battery Life Time)
Up to 80~100M communication distance in open space.
For those developers does not need such long working distance can just simply adjust the output power to enhance the battery life time in double!
Easy for mechanical design to build in or can lower down the output power to enhance the battery life time.
Easy to fulfill customer's specification requirements.

3. Safety
Full Coverage of Safety Regulation Certified as the valued added service for our customers
Raytac module comes with full coverage of profiles for BT certification (Declaration ID, also known as DID), and agrees to relabel our DID to customers, which is the unique module provider currently proceeding like this.
Raytac module complied with FCC(USA), Telec (Japan), CE(EU), IC(Canada), SRRC (China), Taiwan (NCC). According to Module Policy of safety regulation, customer's end product build by Raytac Module does not need to apply full or part of safety testing (depends on region).

The total initial cost saving may up to US$46,100 for single BT products .

4. Cost
Fair and competitive price strategy
With the effect of economic of scale production and advanced component matching, Raytac provides a reasonable cost of BLE module to compensate all customers a low entry barrier to Bluetooth 4.0 field

Bluetooth Regulation for Co-Brand & White Labeling Issue

Raytac Corporation

Quoted from Wordpress: https://raytacblog.wordpress.com/

According to SIG's regulation, every brand needs to have unique Declaration ID (also called as DID) for individual product.

Customer frequently pop up and ask 2 questions about Co-Brand & White Labeling

Here, we quoted SIG formal reply as below

1. What needs to happen when a company co-brands with another company?

Company A is selling a product that is co-branded with Company B's brand.  Do both companies need to be a member and create a Declaration?
  • Company A and Company B both need to be a member of the Bluetooth SIG
  • Only one company has to list the product – however, the company that is listing the product should have their brand more prominent on the packaging
Note: In addition, the Bluetooth footnote must be on the product packaging and must show that both companies are licensed to use the Bluetooth trademarks.

2. What needs for white labeling products?
White labeling is the practice of rebranding another product with your own brand.
For example, Company A manufactures or supplies Bluetooth products, and is marketing and selling these products to different companies (e.g. Company B, C, D). Company A can apply the different company's brands on the products, or the OEM can apply their own brand on the products after purchasing. What does either company need to do?

  • Company A, B, C, D all have to be members of the Bluetooth SIG

  • Company A, B, C, D all have to list the product once for their own company/brand name
  • Kind Reminding~Do you get DID (Declaration ID) for your products?

    Quoted from Wordpress: https://raytacblog.wordpress.com/

Recently, many of our customers got in trouble in Bluetooth Trade Mark & Brand issues. The discrepancy of having the products legally Bluetooth Mark listed or lack of the Bluetooth Mark on products may result in lawsuit or bar of trading in the board between countries or markets due to the violation of Trade Mark & Brand Policy by SIG (the Bluetooth Organization)

According to the regulation activated in 2014/2/1, every brand needs to have unique Declaration ID (known as DID) for every individual product. Product is no longer can be free EPL (End Product Listing) listed under other company's QDID. Moreover, SIG recently launched the website for easy reporting the violation makes the report become a fashion.

Cost to purchased Declaration ID is heavy. (US$8,000 for Adapter Member and US$4,000 for Associate Member)

BQB testing cost, says around US$7,000, makes this even much harder and let most customers curb the decision to Bluetooth logo compliance.

For customer who is making products built by Raytac Module, please do contact us for more detail to proceed the application.

Raytac's module not only have most regional RF certificates granted by module policy, but also conduct the policy to re-label our Bluetooth certified module under the name of customer. That is, we will transfer our module under our customer's brand, and we are the only vendor in the market willing to do so.

The brilliant point is that the Bluetooth re-label procedure comes with 9 profiles included. This will help customers much easier to have the future BT products roadmap without extra compliance costs.

Still feel anxiety for Bluetooth logo issue?
Please do not be hesitated to contact with us for more detail~
